Direct to Mobile Pre Release now available on UK mobile networks
We has always offered a really excellent Pre Release service, but now we've made it even better!

A Pre Release is a track which a user can buy today but can't download until the Pre Release date.

The user is sent a reminder txt message on the Pre Release date to remind them to download the track.

Previously, all Pre Release tracks had to be downloaded to PC, even if the user initially requested a Direct to Mobile download.

We've now changed this, so that the reminder txt itself is an actual download link, which means the user can download the track to their phone as soon as they receive the reminder txt!

For artists trying to break into the charts this is huge advantage, because the Official Chart Company will only count a sale in the UK Charts if the track is downloaded.

With this new service, you can both concentrate all your downloads in the same Chart week, and ensure the highest download rate possible!

This is just one of a number of new service offerings we will be launching over the coming weeks. Thanks again for using the service.

Please note that this new service is only available for UK mobile networks, and on our new number, 80818, not on our old number, 83262. Technical restrictions prevent us from offering this service on Irish mobile networks at this time. All reminder txts sent to Irish mobile users are for PC downloads.

Important: We are changing our UK SMS number 83262 -> 80818
downloadmusic.ie has recently completed a deal with a new SMS service provider in the UK which will allow us offer more sophisticated services to both users and artists.

As part of this, we need to change the SMS short code number that UK users send txt messages to when they are buying tracks.

The current number is 83262. This will change to 80818.

This means that where a user sent the following txt message:

'track 1234' to 83262

They will now send

'track 1234' to 80818

This also applies in relation to Direct to Mobile downloads.

This change does do affect Irish users in any way. There are no changes to our Irish service. This only applies to UK users who purchase tracks in the UK. We are alerting this change to Irish artists so that they can make the necessary updates when advertising their music to their UK fan base.

The old number will continue to function while we make the transition and for several months after the transition takes place. We will monitor traffic on the old number during this time and only switch it off when it is clear that it is no longer in use. After this time, users who send a message to the old number will simply not get a response. No charges to their bill or credit will arise.

The proposed date for the changeover is Monday March 29th. On this day, all references on our website to the number 83262 will change to 80818.

We appreciate that this is short notice, but as there will be no interuption to service, and as no immediate action is required on the part of artists, we would prefer to go ahead and make the change as soon as possible.
