Biography - It is hard to believe that Merrill Osmond has already celebrated
over 50 years in the world of show business. To mark this, along
with his brothers and sister, they have recently completed a
successful world tour culminating in the whole family being
honoured by performing alongside the world famous Mormon
Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra in a highly emotional concert
held at Temple Square, Salt Lake City.
Merrill, the unique lead voice of the famous
Osmond family is also an established solo artist, writer,
producer, motivational speaker and philanthropist.
In collaboration with his brothers, Merrill has
written the music and lyrics for five number one hit records and
sang lead to the group's collective 27 gold records – for many
of which he shared the production credits. Collectively the
Osmonds have produced 47 gold and platinum records with record
sales topping a 100 million worldwide. The Osmond Family still
hold the record for achieving an amazing 11 gold and platinum
awards in one year, something not even surpassed by the Beatles.
In 2003 the Osmond Family were honoured for their achievements
with their own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Merrill has received two “People’s Choice
Awards”, five number 1 “Billboard Hits”, and two “Grammy Award”
nominations. His remarkable achievements have also earned him
notable recognition and honourable titles such as one of the
“Ten Outstanding Men,” for the United States Jaycees. Most
recently he was honoured with a Knighthood by the Military Order
of the Temple of Jerusalem in recognition of his philanthropic
involvement with religious and charitable organizations.
Merrill’s extraordinary leadership skills have
been recognized by both President Ronald Regan and President
George Bush. Both Presidents have requested his expertise in
producing two prominent events, “The Making of an Inauguration”
for President Ronald Regan, and on behalf of President George
Bush’s Inauguration in 1989, “The Quincentennial Inaugural
Ball.” One event that was special to his heart was, “Operation
Family Front,” a special benefit and television program that
provided for the families of servicemen in Operation Desert
Storm. In the aftermath of the devastating Hurricane Katrina in
2005 Merrill showed his
true intentional love for the lives he touches in his work
as President of the Morrell Foundation when he
accompanied their Quick Response Relief Team to the affected
areas providing emergency relief, shelter and support .
Merrill has a wide variety of talents and interest that involves
healing and wellbeing, he has produced a series of CD’s to help
with relaxation and stress management. His latest venture, ‘The
